March to Happiness

Each month, re-re-reading the next chapter

in the book The Happiness Project

re-re-visiting the underlining,

and the notes to self,

connecting the ideas to my life,.

not only today but a year from now to see how I took

“aim higher”

with work as “a critical factor.”

Re-re-reflecting on

“what I read in my spare time”

and what I listen to in the time spent in the car,

and the path of growth it is leading me towards.

With a “willingness to practice”

to “post every day”

“by doing a little bit each day”

And also by taking time to

“put myself in jail”

Fasting from social media,

Facebook and Instagram,

(breaking for #SOLC).

“Keep pushing ahead”

as I March towards the one-word goal of “Fit”

Fit the physical – 30 minutes of cardio, a walk or bike

and fit the fiscal, additions to Facts of Life book, as well as dropping of paperwork for taxes.

“Challenge brings happiness”

“Allows you to expand your self-definition” by participating in the Slice of Life challenge.

“Squeeze in an extra fifteen minutes somewhere during the day”

instead of the scroll of social media or rabbit hole of the internet.

Draft the slice, in the early morning light

“there is something nice about working in an office with a candle burning”

when the candle is quality-the scent and color of my liking.

The months are bumping into each other, as the calendar is starting to go fast with events.

“Look forward to reaching these destinations.”- the milestones and mile markers of our lives.

Grace’s wedding in May with all the smaller events from here to then,

and the expected arrival of the tiebreaker in July.

“Arriving at one goal usually reveals another”

change begets change

“in an atmosphere of growth”.

As I March forward and toward,

I wrap myself into and around “the process toward the goal”

Practice, practice, practice is the

process, process, process.

“Time to compose”

my thoughts for today’s slice and the next steps

as I march forward and toward

honoring “the multiple ways of seeing”

how “the books endure”

as I re-re-read The Happiness Project.

  2. It’s hard to pick just one stellar line, but this one got me:”The months are bumping into each other, as the calendar is starting to go fast with events.” I also appreciate the re-re as a powerful testament to how important The Happiness Project has been over time. That is the mark of a valuable text.
